The care of the forest, a gift and an ethical challenge born a thousand years ago, today is under the attention of UNESCO, since it is an implicit inheritance of knowledge, respect and care of the forest. It has become a custom of management of the forest and the environment that is still practiced today. This consciousness is a practical management of the environment which has become seriously urgent, in fact, the negative consequences of climate, caused by an unhealthy use of the territory, have decisively appeared on the horizon.
Recognising this thousand year wisdom would help definitely in founding an ethical and radical change in the attitude towards nature , environment and its possibility of survival. For this reason a procedure at Unesco. Is going forward to recognise “THE CAMALDESE FOREST CODE” as “AN INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF HUMANITY”. The Congregation of Benedictine Camaldolese monks , through the Association of the Collegium Scriptorium Fontis Avellanae, has promoted this procedure. We are looking for associations , institutions and people that , aware of this important opportunity, can sustain the project through their involvement ideally and in a practical form. It is for this reason that we have launched a subscription to support the expenses of this procedure.
